My mum’s favorite holiday was Christmas. I can still see her childlike grin in anticipation of our family gatherings. Each year, she'd decorate with a different theme - classic red with cardinals and mementos of our family loved and lost; to her love of all things Victorian in delicate pinks, blues and silvers. She was partial to anything with glitter and sparkle.
Undoubtedly, my love of Christmas came from her. I think of her each year as I start getting decorations out of storage. Putting up multiple trees makes me feel close to her and has become our family tradition.
